Es el primero de tres partidos en casa en ocho días para Toronto FC, y el segundo amistoso internacional en el mes. Los Rojos (N. del T.: hablan del Rojo Canadiense...) perdieron por penales ante el Pachuca de Mexico el 5 de julio, luego de que el partido terminara empatado 1 a 1.
Independiente está localizado en Avellaneda, en la zona del Gran Buenos Aires. Tiene una rica historia desde su formación en 1905. Independiente ha ganado 14 Campeonatos Argentinos (rankeado tercero detrás de River Plate y Boca Juniors), siete Copa Libertadores incluyendo cuatro consecutivas entre 1972 y 1975, y 15 títulos internacionales. Siempre les decimos que si lo hacen bien les daremos una chance. El juvenil Ibbe Ibrahim jugó contra Pachuca y lo hizo muy bien, y tuvo la chance de hacer su debur contra Chicago. Eso les muestra a los compañeros que si quieren ser profesionales, y lo hacen bien, tendrán su chance. Será un gran partido para algunos de los jugadores como Nana Attakora Gyan, Tyler Hemming y Tyler Rosenlund para salir e impresionar al técnico."

Toronto in international friendly action
Toronto FC face international opposition at BMO Field on Tuesday, when they take on Independiente of Argentina. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. The match is being broadcast live on our video player.
It is the first of three home games in eight days for Toronto FC, and the second international friendly of the month. The Reds lost on penalty kicks to Pachuca of Mexico on July 5th after the game finished tied at 1-1. Independiente are based in Avellaneda, in the greater Buenos Aires area. They have a rich history since their formation in 1905. Independiente have won 14 Argentine Championships (ranked third behind power houses River Plate and Boca Juniors), seven Copa Libertadores titles including four straight from 1972 to 1975, and 15 international titles. Many great players have worn the famous red shirt including previous World Cup Champions Daniel Bertoni and Jorge Burruchaga. Independiente faced MLS opposition last week, when they went down 2-1 at Columbus Crew.
Toronto FC Assistant Coach Chris Cummins believes this will be another good challenge for his side. "They will be great opposition for us, and they will be similar to Pachuca," said Cummins. "It will be another learning curve for some of the lads who are going to come in and it will be fantastic to see how we cope with them. They will have technically gifted players who are decent athletes and will be a very well organized team with good movement going forward. It is difficult to prepare specifically for them because we haven't had chance to watch them in advance, but that's similar to the reserve games. You set out how you are going to play, and if you have to change things to deal with the opposition, then you change as the game goes on."
Cummins expects Independiente to take the game seriously. "Any professional club takes games seriously and you could see that when we played Pachuca. We were expecting them to make lots of substitutions at half time, but because we did so well, they were shocked and they didn't make the changes because they wanted to be competitive. Independiente will look at it the same way, they'll be serious about not losing the game.
The TFC Assistant Coach is looking at the game as another chance for some of the younger players in the squad to prove themselves. "Our boys are looking to impress. We always tell the lads that if they do well we will give them a chance. Young Ibbe Ibrahim played against Pachuca and did very very well, and he was then given a chance to come on at Chicago and make his league debut. It shows the other lads that if they come in, are professional, and do well then they will get a chance. It's a great game for some of the lads such as Nana Attakora Gyan, Tyler Hemming and Tyler Rosenlund to come in and impress the management."
